Around here....
Around here, we are so crazy-ass maddeningly busy that we may become completely unhinged. I'm trying to think of it as a blessing, which is a stretch, but here goes - at least I don't have time to worry about whether my hair is shiny enough or if my shoes are current. Or, if my kids are wearing clean clothes to school. And other not-at-all important things. Right?

Thinking about: Summer Mom.
It's not summer yet, but Summer Mom is calling me. I can smell her perfume in the wind - it's like sunscreen mixed with geraniums mixed with super-heated car interior. She's the best - and certainly my favorite, windows open, dessert first - version of myself.

Around here....
A big beautiful telescope AND a blood moon? And overcast skies. Plus hay fever. But - Native American dancers, mega-church, and nasturtiums. Can't complain.

Friday, I'm in love....
Am I the last girl in the world to find Tomboy Style? I don't even care, it's so awesome.

The Materials.
The world of textiles is an imperfect one, filled with imperfect choices - so I thought I'd tell you about some of the fabrics I'm using and why.
Remember the seventies? Fondly? We certainly knew how to work a pattern back then.
The upside: Already exists in the world, probably in a drawer somewhere. Light cotton fabric, softened with use and washing. Absolutely gorgeous.
The downside: None that I can see. With any vintage piece, there may be holes or other damage to work around. In general, I find that signs or wear, age, and storage add beauty and uniqueness to a piece and will be left in as long as they don't compromise the structure of the final product. In a world of imperfect choices, this is one of the better ones.

On the farm.
Hopefully, we'll have blackberries this year. We've never had blackberries before - because I was cutting them back all wrong.
(Worst farmer ever. Getting better. Hopefully.)

Around here....
Before you get all: Girl, your kids are amazing! Like you always do, I'd like to point out that 3 out of those 4 awards are for Participating. Which? Reminds me of my all-time favorite Generation-X rant.
ps. My kids are amazing!

Friday, I'm in love....
My handsome husband bought me a Swiss Army knife!
Because, I'm so outdoorsy!
I'm not, but this would be super-handy when a bottle of wine needs opening in a movie theater.
Not that I would ever do that.

Thinking about: Laterality.
How left-handed are you? I'm in the 2nd Left Decile (-45.00). Which is not very left-handed. Kind of in the middle. Do you think that left-handed people are less left-handed than right-handed people are right-handed because we live in a world where ninety percent of us are right-handed and because it's faster to learn to use the righty scissors than find a pair of lefty scissors? Me too!

Around here....
If at all possible, get thee to Yosemite. It's one of those places in the world that is totally not over-rated. One of those places where one might use the word "awesome" without a trace of irony. I had a sacred one-with-nature sort of experience with the mist of Bridalveil Fall on my face (considering what the first humans who discovered this place must have thought of their good fortune) until a newlywed couple needed to take a selfie in the exact spot where I was standing.
The kids took what was basically a road trip to look at some rocks in stride because the hotel had a pool. We could have stayed at the Radisson in Stockton if it had a pool for all they care. And? They will climb up on almost anything to get their picture taken.
