Summer Mom says:

Of course you can put Cocoa Krispies in your peanut-butter sandwich. I can't imagine why you'd have it any other way.

Does this ever happen to you?

You wake up from a dream and say to yourself: Dude, that was messed up! How did my brain (with which I had thought I was rather familiar) come up with that? What manner of anxiety have I ignored so completely that my subconscious has produced a narrative that includes a disappointed princess who will not be cheered, a temple I must design and build out of bamboo, an enormous African snake that is trying to eat me, but who is really more annoying than dangerous, and....
O.
I just figured it out.
Nevermind.

There's nothing like a camping trip....

....to make you appreciate a hot shower and a bed. It's wasted on me though, because those are pretty much my two favorite things anyway.
Also, I got a new camera - did you notice?
And look! My rarely-seen handsome husband.

Happy summer, darlings!

It's finally here (101 degrees in Livermore today) and I couldn't be happier! Thrive!

The Herban Garden!

There's a new store in downtown Fairfax called The Herban Garden. It's delightful and I'm not just saying that because it's chock-full-o BananaSaurus Rex-y goodness. I would totally spend all my money there. But I will say that I may have made a bit of a scene running on and on about how beautiful and amazing it is (it is) and how honored I feel that Kari Anne likes my work and wants to sell it in her gorgeous jewel of a shop in the best town ever.
I'm super inspired to make more lovely things to go with the existing awesomeness.
ps. I did not make those superdelicious throws hanging up in the second photo, I just really wanted one. And the local honey. And the little Guatemalan baskets. And she has these sweet wooden yo-yos that the kids loved.....see?

Farmers' Market.

There's nothing better than Farmers' Market. The weather was more perfect than perfect, there was music and wine tasting and gorgeous apricots. I got to visit with lots of friends, enjoy a glass of wine with Julie and made juuust enough money to call it worthwhile. A good time was had by all, and rainbow ice was had by most.
ps. Yes, we have our Farmers' Market on the diagonal. Don't you?

Me.

There is nothing that strikes fear in the heart of a forty-one-year-old girl so much as hearing the words.... and the PR firm needs a high resolution headshot of you.
Scratch that - they could have asked for a high resolution upper-arm shot.
That would have sucked.
In unrelated news, Representative Weiner is resigning from Congress today and Seamus's new favorite word is "weiner." Coincidence?

Half. [Super-duper, with summer reading.]

Is there a place in your house where you keep all the super-important things? You know - all those super-duper important things that are so super-duper-important that they never actually get put away? Where they belong? For me, that place is the top of my dresser. Why?
I didn't really get rid of half, but I did file the report cards and put the too-small-for-Fin pants in the giveaway box and finally threw out those socks that have lingered too long with no mate. Sorry socks. Sad story.
It took like ten minutes, which is super-duper frustrating because the mess has been vexing me for months. Isn't that always how it is? And look - now I have space for a nice stack of summer reading - delicious, inspiring summer reading! Which is looking a little over-ambitious now that it's all stacked up so nicely.

Caramelized onion and gorgonzola hand-pies.

I can't tell you how unsatisfying it is not to have a photo of the baked up finished product but they were so yummy we gobbled them up before I could take a picture. Also, no photo exists whatsoever of the apricot cherry deliciousness of last week. Omygoodness, are you still reading? You are the miracle of the world and your hair smells like roses.

Tourists.

Sometimes it's good to be tourists in the city you consider your own. But that was last weekend. This weekend we're lazy. My handsome husband has gone off on a manly camping trip to do man things with men and Summer Mom is here with the semi-domesticated chimpanzees - cycling and gardening and hoping the temperature gets over seventy-five.
Summer Mom let the chimps have ice cream for breakfast today.
