Thinking about: the Bay Bridge.

Look! We've got a fancy new Bay Bridge now. They closed the old bridge for ever and ever over Labor Day weekend and I sort of didn't really think about it but now I am.
I drove over that bridge a few thousand times – and that's not even very much by Bay-Area-commuter standards. The last time I went across, I didn't even know it was the last time, and I haven't been over the new one yet.
I'm not sure how nostalgic I can justifiably be....

Flying geese.

Sweet hangar sachets in the shop now - with a little flying-geese-inspired applique and stuffed with organic french lavender. Only the best for you!

On the farm.

On the farm,* Rue is molting (You can spell it "moulting" if you want to - also correct - proceed.) and she looks terrible. Worse, actually, than she does in this picture - she now has zero tail feathers and a few bald patches. But I didn't want to traumatize her by trying to take another picture. She's very irritable and sensitive and the other girls are not very kind, even though I've tried to explain that this could happen to them and probably will.
* It's not a real farm. A real farmer would never have to Google "chicken feathers falling out plus super grumpy what's wrong."

Around here....

Around here, we're all about trombone lessons and eking out the last seconds of summer. I know. It's over. Shut up. Also, I have new running shoes that make me feel like I'm not forty-four-thousand years old and new reading glasses (not pictured) that make me feel like I am.

One of those days?

Ever have one of those days when you HAVE To go into your studio and make stuff just because it makes you happy/sane/possible to live with? No? Nevermind, then. There will be some new bags soon....

Tomato season.

Large tomatoes, small tomatoes, red, yellow, orange, pink, and green. And red. Of course, RED! They're full of crushed walnut shell and a bit of lavender so they smell as good as they look.
In the shop in the next few days.....

Hidden chicken.

When you're at the bottom of the pecking order, it's a good idea to have your own secret nest.

Around here....

Around here, it got dark. Did you notice that we get two minutes less per day of daylight? Every day? Until the winter solstice? I noticed.
Of course, it's still hot as blazes around here, and half of California is on fire.

On the farm.*

Lookie! I handfulla beans!
I no longer appreciate plants without food on them.
* It's not a farm. It's a house in the suburbs that looks like all the houses in all the suburbs, except with a lady in the front yard every morning, flinging snails into the road.

Around here....

Around here we escaped for the weekend to a land of life jackets, yellowjackets, Rim Fire smoke, kids on rocks, bourbon on the rocks, good friends, and no internet. It was delightful.
